Jasmine and Nick first met in January 2020 while Nick was spending a lot of time in Ottawa for work. What started as a simple conversation about their mutual love for Negative Approach quickly became something they both looked forward to. Even early on, the connection felt easy and natural.
A couple of months later, the pandemic hit, and Nick's trips to Ottawa stopped. With Jasmine in Ontario and Nick in Alberta, meeting in person was impossible for quite a while. Still, the two stayed in touch throughout the first year and a half of COVID. Long conversations, late-night calls, and steady messages kept them close during a time when everything else felt uncertain.
In September 2021, Jasmine flew to Calgary to visit Nick for the first time. After months of talking from a distance, spending time together in person felt right. It also made it clear that long-distance was not something they wanted to do forever. They set a goal to eventually live in the same city and build a life in the same place.
That opportunity came in March 2022 when Nick was offered a move to Vancouver. It was a city he had been thinking about for years, and now they had a chance to take that step together. In April 2022, they moved to Vancouver and spent the next two years building a home, exploring the city, and settling into life as a couple.
By 2024, they decided it was time to put down more permanent roots and work toward buying a home, and that decision brought them back to Alberta. In September 2024, they moved to Edmonton, where they have continued building their life together.
In January 2025, during a winter getaway to Banff, they took the gondola up Sulphur Mountain for dinner. On the ride back down, surrounded by the quiet of the mountains at night, Nick proposed. It was simple, personal, and exactly right for the two of them.
After returning home to Edmonton, life settled back into its familiar rhythm: painting rooms in their house, taking on small projects, and turning the space into a home they both love. Their two dogs, Big Hank and Patricia Petunia, add a lot of personality to the day-to-day. Hank is peculiar in his own charming way, and Patricia is their sweet, enthusiastic younger dog who wants to be part of everything.
Alongside that everyday life, their friends and families across the country have remained an important part of who they are. Jasmine's connections stretch across Ottawa, St. Catharines, Toronto, and Montreal. Nick's family and long-time friends are rooted in Red Deer, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto. Together they share a close group of friends from their years in Vancouver. These are the people who have supported, encouraged, and shaped their journey. They are also the people Jasmine and Nick are excited to bring together for their wedding.
As the months passed, planning for the future became something they genuinely enjoyed. Conversations turned into real plans, and plans gradually became the picture of the life they wanted to build. Now, with their wedding coming up in August 2026, Jasmine and Nick are looking forward to celebrating with the people who have been part of their story and to marking how far they have come and everything still ahead.
